Solvang, CA: Danish-Inspired Getaway

This Danish-inspired small town is the perfect weekend getaway…

The iconic windmill in Solvang, California.

As my trip up the California coast continued in the fall of 2021, I made sure to pass through and briefly stop in Solvang for a few hours. Although I had been there before as a child, going as an adult on a solo trip allowed me to go at my own pace and see as much as I could in a rather quick time. Solvang is a town you could probably spend a few days deeply exploring and enjoying the many bakeries and restaurants throughout the town. It also works for someone simply passing through, with plenty of quick walks through the many shops.

Throughout my visit around every corner, there seemed to be something to capture and photograph. The historic-looking buildings show a high degree of craftsmanship, and I found myself looking at the various details quite often. I made sure to stop in Rasmussen’s and add to my magnet collection, and grab some pastries for the road before leaving this photogenic place. I hope someday I’ll pass through again and spend a few days slowing down.
